Episode #19: Football and Football
Posted by richardfarley in Radio on October 24th, 2009
On Episode #19 of .10 Radio, Ryan tries to engage Richard by talking football - association football. It works, but when Ryan tries to switch to discussion of real, gridiron football, axioms about hades and hand baskets become applicable.
Episode #18: NFL, EPL Review

Fresh of the consumption of some good gridiron, Ryan coaxes me into another episode of ye ol’ .10. “Ah, sure,” I said, in my best pirate voice, “but I has me one demand.
“Arrrr!”
I insist that we talk some football, and when Ryan wakes up and realizes my pirate impression (and demand) was all a dream, he decides to go with it.
A show idea be a show idea, matey.
Episode #17: NFL Thoughts

Point One Oh is not only back, it’s back and in greater numbers. The second pod in three days talks about the upcoming action on the NFL calendar, Rush Limbaugh, and the efficient use of human carcass by industrious roommates.
Episode #16: The Rebirth of Slick

Point One Oh has been on hiatus. Look that up in certain dictionaries (the dictionary in my mind) and you’ll see:
hiatus (n.) - thing Richard inflicts on Ryan.
Read between the lines (pretend that’s on more than one line) and you’ll see: This break has been Richard’s fault. HE HAS KEPT YOUR .10 FROM YOU!
It’s only be the grace of Ryan that we now bring you this, the sixteenth episode of .10 (which is actually used as birth control in some countries):
More Sound Quality Issues
Posted by richardfarley in Radio on May 18th, 2009
If you’ve listened to Episode 11 of .10 Radio, (a) thank you, very much, (b) you’ve noticed an insane amount of reverb. It sounds like we’re recording in the middle of a cathedral. While it is true that I’ve slept in many a cathedral, my days of elective homelessness are over. My current bedroom’s only about 10′ by 10′, but had hardwood floors and vaulted ceilings. It might be the worst possible place to record a podcast where three people are sharing two mics.
There is a raw quality to the reverb, but I’m over it. You’re probably over it. It sound unprofessional, and there is no amount of caressing I can do in post-production to reduce that amount of reverb. Thus, we need to find other solutions.
First, I don’t think we’ll be doing podcasts featuring guest until we get more equipment or a better room. The need to share mics has us sitting farther from them when we add people, increasing the reverb problem.
Second, I am going to try other rooms. Soon. I have a walk-in closet that might serve as the new studio.
Third, I might need to throw money at the problem, beyond mics. The reason we record in my room is because it has the machine that can handle in-line microphones. I would need to buy some kind of pre-amp to be able to record on my laptop (thanks for that, Apple). I may need to do that.
I realize quality is an issue. I also realize that it’s very lame to have a site devoted to the podcast, distribute via iTunes, ask people to listen yet appear not to give two drops about product quality.
We do care. The quality will improve.
Episode 11: The Viability Of Baseball (Three Guys in a Room)
Posted by richardfarley in Episodes, Radio on May 15th, 2009
To give baseball a fair shake, Richard and Ryan invite their friend Matt onto the podcast. An ardent baseball supporter, Matt takes the dirt Richard throws on the sport’s grave and rubs it in his eyes. It’s about time somebody humbled that blowhard. For Episode 11, we locked our hosts and our guests in a room and didn’t let them out until the future of baseball was decided, and while the audio may have suffered for it, the conversation did not.
